How do you choose the right MLM opportunity? If you are one of the top earners in this industry, it probably doesn’t really matter what company or program you get involved. You can sell anything and recruit anybody no matter what. But after all, not all MLM’s are created equal. It is important to make a wise decision and choose the right opportunity for you.
If you are a student of Attraction Marketing, you understand about building a relationship and offering value first. But when you finally reveal your opportunity to your prospects, imagine a difference between “Wow, that sounds interesting!” and “Uh-oh, let me get out of this right now!” Which one will your opportunity be?
It’s good to be passionate about a particular product or field. But if you are in it to make money, you will need to look at it as a business. And if you are already involved in an opportunity, it’s easy to become conditioned to believe in it. It’s a good idea to give it a reality check.
Products
Recruiting is the biggest challenge in MLM. Opportunities are hard to sell. So what about the products? Will they help you or hold you back? Can you easily describe your products in a few words, or does it take half an hour to explain? Can you bring it up in your conversation in a casual, non-threatening manner, or will you have to scheme your way through it? Will you be proud and comfortable selling them?
Niche
Is there a unique niche for the opportunity, or is there a hundred other MLM companies in the same field? Is it the type of niche where similar products are available in every supermarket that there’s no compelling reason to buy from the company? Does it take another half hour to explain what makes them different from others?
Auto Ship
Then there’s the auto ship. You will be receiving the shipment every month, you may end up with a pile of products in your garage. If you don’t like that idea, you may want to choose information products or services.
Support
What kind of support will you be getting from your upline? Are they accessible and committed to your success? Are they willing to sit down with you and discuss strategies and give you guidance when you need it? What kind of training does the company provide?
Company
Do you know who is involved in the company? Can you Google the management and verify their accomplishments? What kind of background do they have in MLM? What about the funding? Do you like the company culture, and feel comfortable representing them?
Cost
Is the cost affordable? Many people who enter MLM are looking for low cost business opportunity. If the cost is high, it will be harder to recruit. On the other hand, if it’s very inexpensive or there’s a free option to join, you may end up with a lot of reps that are not serious about building their business.
Decision and Commitment
After considering all points, if you like it for the most part, take a leap of faith and commit to it. If you do nothing, you’ll stay right where you are. You don’t want to make a rushed decision, but you also don’t want to wait too long and lose the momentum. Joining an opportunity is only a small step, it’s in the work you do that will make a difference. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter what you choose. So the sooner you start, the sooner you will start seeing results.
